Stanton Bird Club to discuss bee keeping
LEWISTON — A talk about bees and bee keeping will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 4, during the monthly meeting of the Stanton Bird Club.
The presentation will be given by Peter and Paula Schlax, members of the Androscoggin Beekeeping club. They have been keeping bees for four years and will share some of the joys and challenges of keeping bees in our local environment. In addition to presenting an illustrated overview of their beekeeping experiences, they invite questions and will bring an observation hive, beekeeping equipment, and a microscope to allow for a closer look at these beautiful pollinators.
The meeting and presentation will take place at USM L/A in the Androscoggin Room, 51 Westminster St. in Lewiston. It is free and open to the public.

Senior College instructor June Spear will lead the presentation, discussing the 18th century English landscape garden movement and origin of “park.”

Demystifying Romance explored at Lifetree Café
LEWISTON — How scientific findings can help create and sustain more satisfying relationships will be discussed at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at Lifetree Café at 1919 Lisbon Road, Lewiston.
The program, titled “What Makes Relationships Tick?” includes a filmed interview with Ty Tashiro, the author of “The Science of Happily Ever After: What Really Matters in the Quest for Enduring Love.” Participants in any relationship status will find hope and help for having great relationships.
