SOUTH PORTLAND — Police say the body of a man that was found along the banks of the Fore River in South Portland has been identified.
Authorities say the body of 47-year-old James Gudinas, a transient from out of state, was sent to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta on Wednesday.
Although a cause of death has not been determined, South Portland police say they do not believe Gudinas was the victim of foul play.
The body was discovered Tuesday by a passer-by on the shore in an area just north of the Casco Bay Bridge.
Detectives are attempting to establish a timeline leading up to Gudinas’ death, although they believe he had been recently staying in both the Portland and Bangor areas.
