Rumford Town Manager John Madigan is checking with the town solicitor to determine if it would be legal to have the vote on choosing the Rumford Police Department or the Oxford County Sheriff Department be held at town meeting, rather than by secret ballot.
Obviously, that is so wrong. How dare he?
Residents finally got the chance to vote by secret ballot and Madigan wishes to circumvent it?
That is intimidation of the worst kind. Shame on Madigan and whomever is behind him for even thinking of such a thing.
Regardless of anyone’s position on the issue, the vote must be by secret ballot on voting day to truly be the will of the people.
