Marilyn T. (Pergolizzi) Dussich

1940-2015

Marilyn T. (Pergolizzi) Dussich (Mema), 74, passed away April 25, 2015 after bravely battling cancer in her home in Chesterville with her daughter Josette and son-in-law Rick Billian by her side.

Marilyn leaves behind her two children, daughter Josette Billian and son-in-law Rick, and her son, John Pergolizzi and daughter-in-law Frances; as well as her step children Keith Dussich, Scott Brusa and step daughter-in-law Lisa. Marilyn (Mema) also leaves her grandchildren Richard and Matthew Billian, their wives Brandi and Yvonne, Andrea Pergolizzi-Baker and husband Moses and Toni Janelle Pergolizzi. She leaves behind great-grandchildren Rick and Anna and two unborn great-grandchildren whom she was aware of and loved already. Marilyn also leaves behind two sisters, a brother, and much extended family and friends.

Marilyn was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York on May 16, 1940. She graduated high school from Franklin K. Lane. She was 16 years of age, beautiful with long black hair when she met her first husband, and father of her children, John at the candy store. They married on June 11, 1960, and raised their two children in Ozone Park, NY. They relocated and moved to Jupiter, Florida in 1976.

Marilyn furthered her education by attending Palm Beach Junior College where she studied accounting and received an Associates Degree. For fun she enjoyed clogging with her daughter Josette and grandson Ricky. She loved to read, and loved gardening. She was widowed in Dec. 1993 when she lost her husband John to cancer. They were married for 33 years. She then met her second husband Joe Dussich while attending a bereavement group. They married March 21, 1998. Marilyn sadly lost Joe to cancer as well in 2006. They were married for eight years.

Marilyn retired and gave of her time in volunteering at a nursing home in the activities department in Jupiter, Florida. She also enjoyed going to her yoga classes. In June 2013 she moved to Maine where she was a member of North Chesterville extension Homemakers.

Norman James Barker

1953-2015

Norman James Barker, 61, of Stratton passed away April 24, 2015 at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

He was born Nov. 23, 1953 in Farmington the son of Clarence and Theresa Barker. Norman worked for M.D.O.T for over 20 years before his retirement. He loved to tinker on snowmobiles, collecting and reselling them. He enjoyed going on vacations, riding roller coasters with his daughter, fishing (especially trolling), and particularly loved to be outside.

One of Norman’s hobbies was to go yard saling and to look for “keepable” stuff at the transfer station. He loved spending time with friends, watching and playing baseball, but most of all Norman enjoyed the time he spent with his daughter and two grandchildren whom he loved very much, and spending time with his two toy poodle dogs Troy and Molly (they were a huge part of his life and kept him going).

Norman is survived by his daughter Charlotte Barker and her fiancee Paul Keaten; two grandchildren Aubrieann and Brennan Keaten; parents Clarence and Theresa Barker; sister Kathy Barker; and brothers Ron Barker, Dan Barker, Jim Barker, and Billy Austin.

Ina Lucretia Zibbell

1916-2015

Ina Lucretia Zibbell, 98, passed away peacefully on April 22nd, 2015.

Ina was born, and raised, in Wilton to Ellsworth and Ethel (Harnden) Crockett. She attended Wilton High School before moving to Michigan. She later moved to Florida and lived there for 32 years before returning to Maine. Ina loved to paint, make wedding cakes and was an avid woodcarver and seamstress. She also loved to travel and was able to visit many different countries.

Ina was predeceased by her parents, husband Edward M. Zibbell, brothers Rosco and Elmer and sisters Pearl, Bessie and Ethelyn. She is survived by her son Dale Coates and Linda of Maine and her daughter Lynne Spencer and Roger of Florida, and special niece Myrla Rolfe. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at a later date at Coates Family Cemetery in Albion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ina’s name to an organization of your choice.

Alberta Elaine Smith Tracy

1943-2015

Alberta Elaine Smith Tracy, 71, died peacefully at the Sandy River Center in Farmington on April 28, 2015.

She was born in Temple on Dec. 21, 1943, the daughter of Roger and Gladys (Riggs) Smith. Alberta attended the Temple Red Schoolhouse and Farmington High School where she graduated in the class of 1962. In May of 1971, she married Richard Tracy in Farmington. Alberta was employed at Forster Manufacturing, Farmington Shoe and did housekeeping as well.

She belonged to the Fairbanks Union Church and the Temple Congregational Church. Alberta was also a member of Temple Grange and later on, the New Sharon Grange. She had many hobbies and interests that included, crafts, beano, music, jigsaw puzzles, yard sale shopping and she loved cats.

Alberta is survived by; her brother, Ronald L. Smith Sr. And wife Rita of Temple; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by; her parents, Roger Lyford Smith Sr. And Gladys Victoria Smith; her sister, Lillian Gladys Hand; her brother, Roger Lyford Smith Jr..

Joey Taylor

1953-2015

Joey Taylor, 62, of Livermore Falls went home to God after a short illness surrounded by his family and loved ones.

He was born in Augusta, Maine on Apr. 8th, 1953 to parents Joseph and Lena (Nickless) Taylor Sr. Joey was a proud veteran of 15 years, and was a member of the Farmington Elks Lodge and Post 43 AMVETS of Jay.

He loved time spent at the racetrack on the pit crew of Taylor Racing, helping his cousin and partner in crime Daniel Taylor of Jay Auto and taking trips to Boca Raton, FL with cousins Wayne and Michele Pelletier. He also enjoyed being in the kitchen, playing cards, and horse races. Joey loved listening to country music, especially at events watching his cousins Daniel Taylor Sr. and Jr. perform. He enjoyed visits with cousins Bonnie, Wayne and Scott Ladd, as well as his trips to Connecticut visiting Gary and Kenny Taylor and Donna White.

Joey is survived by three sisters, Sandra Hyde of Farmington; Jeanne Mathews of Augusta and Stephanie Taylor of Auburn; his three children Shawn Taylor of Jay, Justin Taylor of Florida, and Heather Taylor of Jay. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He will be sadly missed by family, friends, and all who knew him!

Gordon A. Flint

1947-2015

Gordon A. Flint, 68, of Wilton, Maine, passed away in the presence of his loving family on April 26, 2015, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts.

Gordon was born on Jan. 9, 1947, to Louise A. (Lund) and Gordon E. Flint in Cohasset, Massachusetts.

He spent his childhood in Cohasset where he and his wife Patricia began their school years together in the first grade. They graduated from Cohasset High School in 1964. He was a 1968 graduate of Bowdoin College where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Upon graduation, he served in the United States Army Reserves at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Gordon began his 42-year banking career at the Old Colony Trust Company of the First National Bank of Boston. In 1973 he returned to Maine where he worked as a trust officer at Northeast Bank of Lewiston and later served as the President of Northeast Bank of Farmington from 1983 to 1989. He held subsequent positions in private banking and commercial lending with Fleet Bank, Kingfield Savings Bank, Camden National Bank and Androscoggin Savings Bank. During this time he received four Finance Authority of Maine Outstanding Lender Awards.

He was named a Friend of the University of Maine at Farmington, served one term as the President of the Farmington Ski Club and held the position of Treasurer of the club for 22 years.

He was also part of the United Way family for many years, initially as a loaned executive in Boston. More recently, he served as a board member and treasurer of the United Way of The Tri-Valley Area, and, in 2005, he and his wife Patricia were Volunteer Co-Chairs of the Tri-Valley Area Campaign. He and Patricia also received the United Way Community Impact Award. He was a board member and treasurer of the Franklin County Children’s Task Force, and a past member of the board of Franklin Memorial Hospital.

Gordon was active in Old South Congregational Church of Farmington, where he served as its Moderator and as a member of the Finance and Stewardship Committees. He was a financial advisor to Western Maine Community Action.

He was also a member of Wilson Lake Country Club.

Since his retirement in 2010, he enjoyed wintering in Naples, Florida, fly fishing and golfing adventures with dear friends, and visiting family in Massachusetts, Colorado and California.

He was an accomplished writer and was well known among his friends for his humorous narrations.

He considered himself a true “Son of Bowdoin.” He was an active alumnus and enjoyed interviewing prospective Maine students. He believed in these words from “The Offer of Bowdoin College” written by William DeWitt Hyde, the Seventh President of the college:

“To make hosts of friends…

Who are to be leaders in all walks of life;

To lose yourself in generous enthusiasms

And cooperate with others for common ends-“

He leaves his devoted wife of 47 years, Patricia (Skehan) Flint, his son Andrew and his wife Jennifer of Larkspur, California; his son Peter of Crested Butte, Colorado, and his daughter Sarah Hammer and her husband Mark of Buena Vista, Colorado. He leaves four beloved grandchildren. Gordon is also survived by his mother Louise Flint of Cohasset, Mass.; his sister Cheryl Libby and her husband Kevin of Falmouth, Maine; and his brother Mark Flint and his wife Jeanne of Hull, Mass.

A Celebration of the life and lifetime of Elizabeth Frederic, of Starks, who passed on Jan. 11, 2015, will be held Sunday afternoon, May 3, 2015 at 1 p.m. from the Starks Community Building with Rev.
