This is in response to Mark Moize’s letter (April 28).
Apparently he thinks the wealth someone earns during a lifetime belongs to the government and after that person dies, it is alright for the government to take 40 percent of that wealth, even though taxes were paid on it at the time it was earned.
I think whatever wealth people earn in a lifetime is theirs to pass along as they would want after they die. The government should not have any right to any of that wealth (which was taxed when it was earned).
I would like to see the estate tax completely repealed, so that no one, no matter what the size of an inherited estate, would be taxed any amount.
