AUGUSTA — An Olympic gold medalist and a 17-year veteran of the NHL were among nine people inducted into the Maine Sports Hall of Fame.
The inductees honored Sunday at a banquet at the Augusta Civic Center were William Alfond, Peter Carlisle, Glenn Dumont, Anna Goodale, Roger Levesque, Rob Pendergist, Marcie Lane Schulenberg, Eric Weinrich and Amy Winchester.
Goodale, of Camden, won Olympic gold in 2008 with the women’s eight rowing team in Beijing.
Weinrich, of Yarmouth, played hockey at the University of Maine and 17 years in the National Hockey League.
Schulenberg led the Cony High School basketball team to an 83-4 record and two state championships.
Alfond is president of the William and Joan Alfond Foundation, which has contributed millions of dollars to build athletic fields around the state.
