1936 – 2015
LEWISTON — Ralph L. Tanner, 78, of Otisfield, died Thursday, April 30, at the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
He was born on Dec. 28, 1936, in Stoneham, Mass., a son of Ralph E. Tanner and Virginia M. Cammon. He attended local schools, graduating from Wakefield High School.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Ralph served for four years in the mid-1950s.
He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Woburn, Mass., for 32 years, retiring to Otisfield in 1990, where he built his own log home.
Ralph enjoyed working around his home, particularly in his work shop and putting up firewood for winter. He was a member of the Otisfield Historical Society and will be remembered for his willingness to always help out a friend and neighbor.
He is survived by his three brothers, Robert Tanner and his wife, Marguerite, of Moultonborough, N.H., Roger Tanner and his wife, Sandy, of Bosque Farms, N.M., and Dennis Seeley and his wife, Jeanne, of Hartland, Vt.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents; a stepmother, Gizella Tanner; and a stepfather, William J. Seeley.
Ralph’s family cannot thank enough all of his friends and neighbors on and around Peaco Hill Road in Otisfield for how much they looked after him and made his years there so comfortable.
