1943 – 2015

LEWISTON — Wayne Edgar Lorrain, 71, of Poland, died Saturday, April 25, at 9:23 p.m. at Central Maine Medical Center of a brief illness, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Naples on May 2, 1943, to Dorothy and Robert Lorrain. He grew up in Casco and proudly served in the Army from 1964 to 1972. He then married Kathy Dee Lorrain (Sanborn) on March 23, 1974, and was married for 41 years.

He worked for the Casco-Naples Transfer Station for 12 years, where he made many people smile and made many lasting impressions. He also worked as a driver for RTP and took pride in his ability to help others by giving them a reliable method of transportation to and from important appointments.

He was a longtime member of the Maine Grange and most recently with the Danville Junction Grange in Auburn, which he enjoyed greatly. Wayne had a love for dancing, fishing, camping, spending time with his family and pretty much anything outdoors. He also loved collecting stuff just to be able to give it to someone. His famous words were always “You never know if someone is going to need it.” He had a big heart and got a lot of enjoyment from helping others.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; son, Troy and wife, Vicki Sweezy; daughter, Tracy and husband, Scott Blevens; daughter, Laurie and husband, Adrian Hobbs; daughter, Cathy (aka Suzie) and husband, Tony Mulkern; daughter, Lisa Lorrain and fiance, John Simms; and daughter, Tori Lorrain and fiance, Walter Knight. He was a proud Bumpa to Stephen, Hillary, Shayna, Chayton, Sean, Isabelle, Brandon and Brianna; great-grandson, Dayne; and his best fur friend, Charlie Pepper. He also leaves behind his siblings, Richard Lorrain, Lucerne Lewis, Allen Lorrain, Sherrell Kane and Bonnie Bean; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, who all loved Wayne and thought very highly of him.

Wayne was predeceased by his parents; and his brothers, Dennis Lorrain and Meredith Lorrain.

The family wishes to thank Central Maine Medical Center’s Intensive Care Unit for their wonderful care. Everyone will always remember him as “Wayne Lorrain from Casco, Maine!”
