Orono’s 1st Annual Music and Beer Festival will be held on Saturday, May 16 from 2-8 p.m. in the parking lot of Family Dog and Orono Brewing Company, 6 Mill Street.

Bringing together a love of local craft beer, local music and admiration for the work and sacrifices of local service men and women, this festival is truly one of a kind.

“We really wanted to do something as part of American Craft Beer Week, and it just so happens that Armed Forces Day falls right at the end; it was a perfect tie-in,” said Bob Cutler, Owner of the Family Dog in Orono.

The event will showcase music from local bands including Magnetic North, the Rotating Taps, and others, while also featuring brews from Orono Brewing Company, Black Bear Brewery, and Geaghan Bros. Brewing Company.

Tickets are only $10, and 100 percent of ticket sales goes towards helping two great causes that support our troops: MAINEiacs Charities and K9s For Warriors with the goal to purchases a trained therapy dog for a local warrior suffering from PTSD. Pints of beer will be available to purchase, and all profits from those sales will also be benefiting these great charities.

Tickets can be purchased starting at The Family Dog, Black Bear Brewery, Verve, Woodman’s Bar and Grill, and Orono Brewing Company in Orono, and at Geaghan’s Pub and Craft Brewery and Verve in Bangor.
