TOPSHAM — Kate Shrock, the Dave Bullard Band, John Dennen and Ken Brunsvold, and Lauren Hottinger, will perform in concert at 6:30 p.m., Friday, May 22, at the Orion Performing Arts Center in the Third Annual Benefit Concert, sponsored by the Brunswick Coastal Rotary.
The proceeds of the event will go to benefit the Midcoast Hunger Prevention Backpack Program and “Healthy Kids, Brighter Future,” a nonprofit aimed at improving health education in Zambia, as well as other international projects of the Brunswick Coastal Rotary.
Concert tickets are $6 for students, $12 for adults, and $30 for a family and may be purchased at Indrani’s, 149 Maine St., Brunswick.
Midcoast Hunger Prevention buys food at wholesale from Good Shepherd Food Bank, packages it, and delivers it to elementary schools, where teachers see to that the food goes home discreetly in backpacks.
“Healthy Kids, Brighter Future,” founded by recent Bowdoin College grad Lonnie Hackett, works with Zambian community members and international medical professionals to fashion a new model of school-based health screening, preventive care and free medical services.
