Auburn Native Ashley DeBlois Inducted Into Stonehill College Honor Society
EASTON, Mass. — Auburn native Ashley A. DeBlois was recently inducted into Stonehill College’s Honor Society Lambda Epsilon Sigma. DeBlois is a member of the 2016 and a Education & Psychology major.
The purpose of the society is to recognize and promote scholarship. Juniors and seniors who have attained a 3.5 cumulative grade point average are invited to apply for consideration. Acceptance into the society is based on evidence of academic achievement, of a pursuit of learning that extends beyond the classroom environment and of an ability to communicate effectively through writing. Additionally, in order to be inducted into the society, the student must be recommended by faculty both from the student’s major and from outside of the student’s major.
Poster presentation takes third place at UMO
ORONO — Student research was displayed during the 6th annual Undergraduate Research and Academic Showcase on April 14.
The event, sponsored by UMaine’s Center for Undergraduate Research, was open to any undergraduate at the university and featured 121 presentations from 229 students in the form of 92 posters, 16 oral presentations or performances, and 13 exhibits. Several presentations included multiple students.
Taking third place for their poster presentation were Jacob Posik of Turner with Cameron Marcotte of Lewiston, Jacob Hatch of Portland, Harold Trey Stewart III of Presque Isle and Adam Thibodeau of Bangor; “Confronting The Challenges of Studentification in Residential Orono Neighborhoods;” adviser: Robert Glover, Department of Political Science.
Christopher Belanger Receives Alpha Psi Omega Honor Society Technician of the Year Award
CASTLETON, Vt. — Castleton student Christopher Belanger of Lewiston was recently awarded the Alpha Psi Omega Honor Society Technician of the Year Award for the 2014-2015 academic year.
This award is given annually to an upper class Technical Theatre and Design major who has shown willingness to go above and beyond what is asked and expected of students both in class and performances, is dependable and responsible, and has fostered passion for theater through other students.
Hanan Ahmed of Lewiston receives 2015 RIT Leadership Award
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Hanan Ahmed of Lewiston, a biomedical sciences major in RIT’s College of Health Sciences and Technology, received the Frederick Douglass Memorial Scholarship (third place) during a ceremony April 22 at RIT.
More than two dozen RIT students were honored. The traits they have in common were celebrated: they are students who get involved, take charge, solve problems and inspire their fellow students.
Local residents receive Student Life Awards at Stonehill College
EASTON, Mass. — The following local residents were recognized and honored for their outstanding contributions to service and campus life at the 2015 Student Life Awards April 27 at Stonehill College.
Rebecca-Marie Lessard of Lewiston received The Vice President’s Award which is presented to students who have enhanced the quality of campus life through involvement in co-curricular programs, innovative contributions to campus morale, and dedicated service.
Joy Harrington of Lewiston received The Community Engagement Award which is presented to individuals who have demonstrated a strong commitment to community service.
Emily Schario of Auburn received The Community Engagement Award which is presented to individuals who have demonstrated a strong commitment to community service.
