AUBURN — Two speakers will present talks on different topics as part of the partnership that the L.A. Senior College has with the Auburn Public Library.
Mike LaChance will be giving a talk titled “Strength Training and Balance”at 2 p.m, Tuesday, June 2. This talk is an introduction to the importance of exercise to preserve strength and balance for preventing falls.
Former pilot Phil Vampatella will give a presentation titled “How Planes Fly” at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 9. Vampatella is a former military and commercial pilot with over 20,000 hours of flying experience. He flew high performance fighters in the Navy during Vietnam, logging over 200 carrier landings and more than 100 combat missions. In 1967, he joined Pan Am where he flew to destinations in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South and Central America and the Caribbean. In 1991, he went to work for United Airlines, flying to destinations primarily in the United States.
