RUMFORD — The Rumford Public Library will hold auditions for the summer theater program at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, and Thursday, May 28, in the public room of the library.
This year’s production will be “Treasure Island.” The play is based on Robert Lewis Stevenson’s classic story of young Jim Hawkins, who sets sail in search of buried treasure on Skeleton Island.
Director Susie Puiia adapted the story with young actors in mind. She said while most of the characters in the book are male, all parts can be played by either a boy or a girl.
There will be opportunities for group and solo singing. Area children ages 5 to 15 are invited to audition. Rehearsals will run most Tuesdays and Thursdays through June and July, with a show at the end of July.
