The Mt. Vernon annual Memorial Day parade and celebration for 2015 is almost here.

On Monday May 25, the Parade will start at Flying Pond Variety at 11:30 a.m. The Memorial Day Ceremony will immediately follow the Parade in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Park next to the Mt. Vernon Country Store. Bring your family and friends and support local business/clubs that will be located in downtown Mt. Vernon,before and after the Parade. Hot dogs, burgers, ice cream, baked goods etc. will be available. Kids face painting and plenty of family fun.

Would you like to be in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Day Parade this year? Build a float, ride your bike, walk for a cause, be a clown, bring your ATV, dirt bike, tractor, horse, dog, car, best friend, or whatever you would like. Parade participants line up at Flying Pond Variety, Route 41, between 10:30 and 11 a.m. on Monday, May 25th. All are welcome!

What a beautiful week we have had. A lot of folks are cleaning their yards, and busy mowing their lawns. Peepers can be heard in the evenings and the out of state fishermen have returned to Castle Island camps for great fishing.

Most of all, the “snow birds” have returned from away. Kids are looking forward to summer vacation as well as their parents. Have a great week.
