Rumford seniors to socialize in Peru

PERU — Rumford Senior Citizens meet at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 28, at the old Peru school on Main Street.

An old fashioned pot luck will be served at 11:30 a.m. Attendees should bring something to share. Nickel bingo will start at 12:30 p.m.

Members and non members are all welcome.

RUMFORD — The Fourth Thursday Poetry program at the Rumford Public Library will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 28.

Poets and poetry lovers are invited to share. The group will also try an experimental activity, group poetry writing.

DIXFIELD — The Ludden Memorial Library will host “The Blue Lights and Funny Cider Tour” at 6 p.m. Firday, May 29, at the Ludden Library community room.

Retired Maine Game Warden John Ford Sr. and retired Maine State Trooper Mark Nickerson will share stories of law enforcement.

Mt. Abram High School to host senior breakfast

SALEM — Mt. Abram High School seniors and their families are invited to attend the annual senior breakfast from 7 to 8 a.m. Friday, May 29, at the school cafeteria.

The breakfast will be served by the school staff.

Senior recognition night will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 4, at the school gymnasium.

Oxford Historical Society to meet

OXFORD — The Oxford Historical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Friday, May 29.

After the business meeting, the entertainment will be about the history of the Churches of Oxford and how they have changed and moved. Refreshments will be served after the meeting and as always guest and visitors are welcome.

Responsible Pet Care to hold animal adoption in Oxford

OXFORD — Responsible Pet Care Animal Shelter will hold pet adoptions from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at Oxford Tractor Supply Route 26, 1272 Main St.

The event will include children’s activites such as a coloring table for kids and fire truck to see.

Fayette Family Fun Day set for May 30

FAYETTE — The Fayette School and Home Association will host the annual Fayette Family Fun Day at the Fayette Central School on from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 30.

The festival is open to all families in the area. Children’s activities will include bounce houses, obstacle course, games, pony rides, face painting and cupcake walk. The Fayette Fire Department will have town trucks and other vehicles to view. Other activities include raffle, demonstrations and animals and a book fair.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the enrichment programs held at the Fayette Central School.

Papa’s Boots Mission benefit auction set for May 30

PARIS — Deering Memorial United Methodist Church and Bolster’s Mills United Methodist Church will host the 3-T Auction to benefit Papa’s Boots Mission Saturday, May 30, at Deering Memorial on the corner of Maine and Church streets.

A meal will be served at 5 p.m. followed by the auction at 6 p.m. Items in the action include “talents,” “treats” and “treasures.”

Papa’s Boots is a mission set up in the memory of Bruno Leino of Harrison. The Papa’s Boots mission is associated with Bolster’s Mills United Methodist Church and Deering Memorial United Methodist Church. Bruno’s grandchildren started this project in his honor. Since 2011 Papa’s Boots has donated hundreds of new pairs of winter boots for children in need in Harrison and Paris and other non-profit organizations who serve people in need.

Youth fellowship fundraises for Hondorus children

WILTON — Congregational Church Youth Fellowship Group will host a fundraiser for children in Hondorus at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 31, at the church.

There will be a slideshow and food. There is no charge to attend, but donations are welcome.
