FARMINGTON — A Farmington man was injured Tuesday morning when the chain saw he was using to cut wood cut his arm near the wrist, according to Farmington police Sgt. Edward Hastings IV.

Police were called to 361 Morrison Hill Road around 11 a.m. when the man’s son called 911 to report the injury, Hastings said. The middle-aged man, whose name Hastings could not verify, was conscious and alert. He had mostly stopped the bleeding by the time police arrived, Hastings said.

A medical helicopter landed in the Elks ball field on Marvel Street to take the man to a Lewiston hospital, Hastings said.

Along with Farmington police and a NorthStar ambulance, Maine State Police Detective Randall Keaton and Farmington Fire and Rescue assisted, Hastings said.
