1925 – 2015
AUBURN — Helen L. Hendricks, 89, of Auburn, died Tuesday, May 26, at her home, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in North Livermore on Sept. 19, 1925, the daughter of the late Daniel L. and Lucy Ann (Groves) Poland. She was educated in Auburn schools and attended high school in Rochester, N.H., where she played the clarinet in the school band.
She worked at Pioneer Plastic for 25 years and was a member of Marston’s Corner Baptist Church.
Helen married Stanley L. Hendricks on April 26, 1947. They were married for 54 years.
Helen enjoyed spending time with her family and loved the family gatherings at her home. She was a devoted and loving mom, grammie, great-grammie and great-great-grammie. She loved to travel, do yardwork and sit on her deck, having her morning coffee with family and friends.
She leaves her cherished memories to be shared by her son, Thomas Hendricks of Auburn; her daughters, Carol Kyllonen of Orlando, Fla., Pam Hodgdon of South Paris, and Cheryl Steele of Woodstock; a very special niece, Barbara Hammberlind-Wheeler of Vermont; a sister, Hazel Binette of Auburn; a sister-in-law, Iona Hendricks; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two stepchildren; and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband; a daughter, Wanda Greene; a son, Lanny Hendricks; a granddaughter, Brooke Greene; and a great-grandson, Aaron Ford.
The family wishes to thank Helen’s nurse, Karen Bourgoin, from the Androscoggin Home Hospice, for the excellent care she has given to her.
