RUMFORD — Regional School Unit 10 Superintendent Craig King said Thursday he is pleased voters passed the 2015-16 budget by a large majority Wednesday night.

“The community seemed very supportive,” he said.

Along with the $36.71 million spending plan, voters also approved $63,358 for adult education. Of that amount, $43,500 is the local share and the rest will come from grants and other sources.

Residents also approved the purchase of three new school buses for $261,600, which will be paid for over three years.

Also passed were $3.86 million for the Region 11 School of Applied Technology; $308,207 for the Region 9 School of Applied Technology; and $76,267 for the Region 11 adult education program.

Residents of the district will vote up or down on the $36.71 million budget at their respective polling stations Tuesday, June 9.

RSU 10 is comprised of Buckfield, Sumner, Hartford, Hanover, Rumford, Mexico, Byron, Roxbury, Dixfield, Canton, Carthage and Peru.
