PARIS — A Dixfield man had his license suspended six months after pleading guilty Friday to causing a four-car pileup when he tried to pass a loaded pulp truck in his hometown in 2013.
Douglas Kubesh, 49, was also handed a fully-suspended six-month prison sentence in Oxford County Superior Court and one year of probation.
In a plea deal with prosecutors Kubesh pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges of driving to endanger, charges which had been reduced from felony charges of aggravated driving to endanger. In addition, the state dropped two counts of aggravated assault and one count of aggravated criminal mischief.
He must also pay over $600 in fines and fees.
In December 2013, police said Kubesh caused a four-vehicle accident when he tried to pass a loaded pulp truck in a no-passing zone on Route 2. Kubesh was driving east in a 2009 Hyundai when he pulled out to pass a 1984 GMC pulp truck and other vehicles on a corner. The accident sent one man to the hospital and totaled three cars.
