1936 – 2015

RUMFORD — Bernard E. Pellerin, 79, died Thursday, May 28, at the Rumford Community Home, where he had resided for the past four months. He was formerly of Essex Ave. in Rumford.

He was born in Waterville on April 15, 1936, a son of Emile and Julienne (Poulin) Pellerin. He was a graduate of St. Francis High School in Biddeford and the University of Maine at Orono. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked as a forester for International Paper and a surveyor for Boise Cascade Paper Mill.

Bernard was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Rumford Falls Aerie No. 1248 and Rumford Elks. He enjoyed bowling, camping, golfing, jigsaw puzzles, hunting and water-skiing. He loved China Lake, where he owned and operated Pellerin’s Campground. He also enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage.

Bernard was married in Rumford on Jan. 2, 1960, to Joan Watson of Mexico, who survives him. Other survivors include daughters, Donna Reynolds and her companion, Brian Rancourt, of Waterville; and her children, John Reynolds and his wife, Jessica, of Waterville and their children, Hayley and Parker of Waterville; Nicholle Massey and her husband, Jacob, of Arizona and their children, Mackenzie, Addison and Orion of Arizona, and her son, Kyle of Albion; Deborah Hamann and her husband, Don, of Mexico and their children, Ryan Hamann and wife, Jessica, of Somersworth, N.H., who is expecting in the fall, Bentley Dale of Somersworth, N.H., Tanya McPherson and her husband, Jason, of Peru and their children, Sawyer and Forrest of Peru; a son, Dan Pellerin and companion, Mary-Ann Hamel, of Leeds, and his two sons, Daniel Pellerin of Washington, D.C., and Matthew of Leeds; and a sister, Jacqueline Matthews and husband, Phillip, of Readfield.

He was predeceased by a son, Dale; and his parents.
