HARRISON — Residents at the town meeting Wednesday evening will vote on a $1.89 million budget that includes money for paving, a bucket loader, a pickup truck and a new roof on the fire station.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. June 10 at Harrison Elementary School, 309 Naples Road. There are 23 articles on the warrant.

Residents will be asked to spend $580,000 from the capital reserve fund for the following:

* $300,000 to complete the two years of paving and road improvements on Edes Falls Road, from Main Street to the town garage, in one year instead of two.

* $50,000 for a bucket loader for the Public Works Department.

* $42,000 for a pickup truck for the Parks and Recreation, and Fire and Rescue departments.

* $48,000 for compactors at the Transfer Station.

* $45,000 to redo the Town Office parking lot and sewer.

* $50,000 for other projects.

Other articles include authorizing selectmen to spend up to $25,000 from the undesignated fund balance to cover emergencies, and using money from snowmobile registrations to support the Harrison Friendly Riders Snowmobile Club.

Revenue has increased to $686,573, which is $51,656 more than this fiscal year. Town Manager George “Bud” Finch said the reason is excise taxes and transfer station fees, along with a variety of small fee increases.
