With the recent political mailer pairing Steve Libby’s current sidekick, Linda Chase, and a former selectman, Lynne Conger, as a “ticket” for the two selectman seats up for vote in New Gloucester this year, Libby and company have shown they mean to keep their majority block.

But here’s a better deal — Kathleen Potter and Jean Couturier. They are qualified, engaged and dedicated to keeping taxes down. They are also adamant that the Board should work as a collaboration of equals and that voters should be informed, heard and respected. They don’t always agree, but they are willing to have honest debates out in the open.

New Gloucester voters should stop recycling Libby supporters into assistant selectmen sidekick positions.

For open government, honest debate, fair treatment of town employees and no more illegal executive sessions, I will vote Couturier and Potter — for a better Board.

Penny Hilton, New Gloucester
