As a long-time resident of Oxford, I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the members of the Board of Selectmen, Roger Jackson, Scott Owens, James Goforth, Floyd Thayer and Pete Laverdiere, and the town manager, Michael Chammings. I have watched Oxford experience substantial growth, which at times has been difficult and has required increased services.

Throughout this rapid growth, Oxford selectpersons have been mindful of the burden the increased demand for services has put on the taxpayers and have worked hard to keep the mill rate increase at a minimum.

I congratulate the Board and the Town Manager for their caution in spending, especially with the new-found money coming from the Oxford Casino. The Board has applied those funds toward the commitment to stabilize the town’s tax mill rate while also funding increased services.

The citizens of Oxford can be proud of this Board’s and town manager’s accomplishments and due diligence in preparing a sensible budget that meets the town’s current needs.

The citizens of Oxford may also take pleasure in knowing the selectmen and the town manager have worked hard to create a business friendly climate. That is essential for growth and providing jobs in the community.
