On Tuesday, June 9, Rumford voters have the opportunity to elect a new Select Board member. The best qualified candidate is Michael Peter Chase.
A lifelong Rumford resident, Chase and his wife have three children and seven grandchildren. Throughout his life, he has been a community volunteer; most recently, as a member of Rumford’s Charter Commission.
He served with the Rumford Fire Department for 25 years and retired with the rank of deputy chief. From his 20- plus years as RFD union negotiator and as deputy fire chief he gained an intimate knowledge of the inner workings of town government.
He will bring no baggage to his position on the Select Board except for his 100 percent concern for the welfare of the town of Rumford.
I hope Michael Peter Chase wins by a landslide.
Linda Macgregor, Rumford
