1957 – 2015
MINOT — Richard “Dick” Sprague, 57, of Minot, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 6.
He was born Aug. 22, 1957, son of Elaine Richardson and Richard B. Sprague Sr.
He was an award-winning master taxidermist and proud owner of Trophies Unlimited Taxidermy Studio in Minot for over 25 years. He was a past member of the Maine Taxidermist Association and a registered Maine guide. He had a passion for hunting, fishing and riding his Harley. He held the state record for many years for the largest Maine black bear sow ever taken and also holds eight Biggest Bucks in Maine Club patches (200+ lbs).
He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his love, Sherri Gosselin; taking long rides on the Harley, smelting and deer-watching together. He also enjoyed spending time with her children, Jaime and Ryan.
He leaves behind many special friends whom he considered family, Michael Hemond (whom he loved like a son) and his wife, Brittany; his “sister,” Wanda Chadbourne and husband, John, Don and Rose Lamontagne, Sue and Jerry Trottier, Paul and Maury Clark and many more, as well as his beloved dog, Chloe. He is also survived by his sisters, Karen Gomez and Pam Hesketh; daughters, Christine Johnson and Jennifer Sprague; stepdaughters, Tina Wade and Lisa Langlais; and his father, Richard B. Sprague Sr.
He was predeceased by his mother, Elaine Richardson.
