DIXFIELD — The Regional School Unit 10 board welcomed new Assistant Superintendent and Curriculum Coordinator Ann Bell on Monday night.

She is principal of Telstar Regional High School in Bethel and succeeds Gloria Jenkins, who retires next month.

Bell graduated from Mt. Blue High School in Farmington and University of New England.

The board also agreed to a 1 percent salary increase for Superintendent Craig King, bringing his pay to about $110,000.

New staff announced are: Danielle Williams, school psychologist; Katie Hatfield, special education teacher at Meroby Elementary School in Mexico; Dawn Trask, literacy coach at Rumford Elementary School; Tai Mirach Jack, special education teacher at Buckfield Junior-Senior High School; and Kaitlyn Cote, Mountain Valley High School assistant winter cheering coach.

The resignation of Emily Dustin, a kindergarten teacher at Meroby, was accepted.

King said several positions for special education teachers and educational technicians must be filled later this summer.

The adult education graduation will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, at Mountain Valley High School in Rumford.

The board held a moment of silence for longtime teacher Lisa Galgay. She taught at Hartford-Sumner Elementary School in Sumner for 26 years, enjoying her passion to teach reading. She died May 19 following a long illness, according to her obituary.

Also Monday, King also reminded board members and others of the school budget vote Tuesday, June 9, in all district towns. RSU 10 includes Buckfield, Byron, Canton, Carthage, Dixfield, Hanover, Hartford, Mexico, Peru, Roxbury, Rumford and Sumner.
