Franklin County’s Retired Educators meeting June 15

KINGFIELD — Franklin County’s Retired Educators will enhance their knowledge at their June meeting at 11 a.m. Monday, June 15, at the Stanley Museum on School Street.

There will be a business meeting and catered lunch. Cost of the meal will be $10.

Attendees will then move next door to the Stanley Museum where executive director and retired teacher Deb Smith of Weld will present information on the Stanley family’s skills and accomplishments. Following the talk, members may visit the exhibits.

Stephens High Class of 1950 to meet

RUMFORD — Stephens High School Class of 1950 will meet for its monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 15, at the River Valley Grill.

Garden club to meet in Wilton

WILTON — The Mt. Blue Area Garden Club will gather at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at the gardens of Deborah Burke, 112 Blue Spruce Road.

Burkey recently moved to the area, bringing many perennials from her old gardens, and is slowly adding more. She also had a number of raised vegetable beds perched above the asparagus and rhubarb.

All are welcome to join hostesses Libby Kaut, Marion Hutchinson and Pat Morse for desserts and an evening of sharing. Attendees should bring a plant to exchange and a comfortable chair.

MEOC to hold college workshop

WILTON — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host a free workshop titled “Essentials of College Planning” for adults 19 and older at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, at the Wilton Career Center, 865 U.S. Route 2E.

All MEOC services are free and include GED/SAT preparation, college planning, referrals, advocacy and advice for careers and financial aid and more.

MEOC is funded entirely by the U.S. Department of Education. The program helps qualified adults make the transition toward a college education.

Christian United Women luncheon June 16

PARIS — Christian United Women will serve its luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, at First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St., Paris.

The program will be “Saucy, Naughty and Slightly Wicked Women: Stories of the Bible,” a dramatic living scripture presented by storyteller and youth and family pastor Cynthia Riley.

CARTHAGE — The Carthage Historical Society will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, at the museum for a pot luck supper with meeting to follow.

Class of ’75 seeks classmates for reunion

DIXFIELD — The Dirigo High School Class of 1975 will hold the 40th class reunion from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at the Hotel Rumford.

All class members and spouses/guests are invited.

There is no fee. Food and drinks will be available for purchase at the Hotel Rumford, which is open only for this event.
