DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Hillview family development of Lewiston Housing Authority is seeking an enthusiastic volunteer sewing instructor to help lead our Aspirations sewing program. While this program was previously attended by middle-school girls who created projects for local fairs and the military, many boys have recently expressed an interest in learning to sew.

Our youth are an energetic bunch who love fashion and would really appreciate a regular sewing program. For those interested adults who would like to assist in planning and leading weekly or biweekly sewing sessions and to be a positive role model to low-income youth, please contact Elaine Theriault, the Hillview Aspirations coordinator, at 207-783-8539 ext. 22 or at etheriault@lewistonhousing.org.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: What has happened to the Salvation Army Thrift Store on Main St in Lewiston? I went by to drop off some things this week and the gates were closed and nothing on the sign to explain. What happened? Hope this is temporary. — No Name, No Town.

ANSWER: Someone asked this question on the Sun Journal’s Facebook page on May 19. Sun Journal replied: “We heard on the scanner that there was some sort of fire in the sprinkler room. We do not know anything more than that.” Someone posted that she has tried calling but there is no answer. Let’s hope someone from the Salvation Army reads this and writes in.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you for all your help in findings answers to all our questions. Do you know what is going on at the Salvation Army Store on Main St. in Lewiston? At first, the sign read “closed.” Now they are “accepting donations.” Also, has anyone dealt with “Life Lock” as advertised on TV? Sounds to good to be true! — No Name via submission form.
