It was a beautiful day in June many years gone by, the day that we were wed, my sweetheart, John and I.
We hiked up to a cabin, passing lady slippers on the way, we talked and laughed together it was such a happy day.
We had 40 years together working side by side, since that beautiful day in June when he took me for his bride.
Another June came last year when he was called away, my heart was broken forever, and I miss him every day.
The flowers of June are blooming, the lady slippers I still see
There is nothing so rare as a day in June, how I wish he was here with me.
