FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Budget Advisory Committee will hold a public hearing on a preliminary proposed $5.78 million budget for 2015-16 at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 17.

The hearing will be held  upstairs in the Superior Court Room at the Franklin County Courthouse on Main Street.

The committee cut $136,782 in May from various places, including budgets for the Sheriff’s Office, the District Attorney’s Office and program grant requests. The proposal reflects an increase of $129,994 from this year’s budget. The package includes $1.2 million to operate the jail.

The commissioners’ proposed budget is $5.9 million.

The budget panel’s proposed preliminary budget could be changed when members meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, when the committee takes its final vote. Their proposed budget will go before commissioners on June 30.
