Farmington Police to perform elder checks
FARMINGTON — The Farmington Police Department announced the department’s participation in the Elder Check Program started by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.
Any senior living alone in Farmington that feels they would benefit from a routine check by the Farmington Police Department is invited to contact Farmington PD. These visits can be scheduled for as often as any individual would like them.
Police reminding residents of Wanderers Program
FARMINGTON — The Farmington Police Department reminds community members of the Wanderers Program offered by local law enforcement aimed to keep members of the community safe.
It only takes a few moments to register a loved one who may be prone to wandering due to Autism, Alzheimer’s, or dementia. Registration is simple and takes just a few minutes. The information provided is secure, private and provides a critical network of real time information, including a photograph, to law enforcement to assist in locating a loved one.
Hartford to hold benefit yard sale
HARTFORD — Hartford will host a yard sale to benefit the Hartford Heritage Society for its maintenance on the J & O Irish Museum from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 20, on Route 140 next to the Town Office.
The sale is accepting donations which can be brought to the town hall at 6 p.m. Friday, June 19, or to the Town Office during regular office hours.

Weary Club members to meet
NORWAY — The friends and members of the Weary Club, corner of Main and Deering streets, will meet for coffee and conversation from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 20.
Increase Robinson Library open Tuesdays
SUMNER — The Increase Robinson Library of Sumner is open each Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. to noon throughout the summer until Aug. 25. Other days that the workers are there, they will put out the “Open” flag and visitors are welcome.
There is a lending area of fiction and non-fiction, including a children’s area. Other books may be used within the library for research and enjoyment. Old scrapbooks are available for viewing.
An Open House will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 20.
First aid, CPR class
OXFORD — A CPR and first aid class will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 20, at the Oxford Public Safety Building.
Instruction will include basic first aid, CPR for adults, children and infants and use of an automated external defibrillator.
On completion of the one-day class, a two-year certification in accordance with the American Heart Association will be given. The certification is accepted for day/childcare providers, loggers, guides, teachers and any other non-health care related professions.
Call to confirm the date. Groups may request to schedule a class at their convenience. Health care BLS CPR recertifications are done as needed one-on-one.

Whitman Memorial Library to celebrate bicentennial
BRYANT POND — Whitman Memorial Library will participate in the Bicentennial celebration Saturday, June 20.
A library float will appear in the parade themed Reading Through the Years.
The library will be open, and the trustees will be dressed period costumes.
A 9:30 a.m. sale will have assorted books and homemade pies, including a fill-a-book-bag sale for $1.
