PPL accepting donations for used book sale

PARIS — The Paris Public Library is soliciting donations to its annual used book sale. The proceeds from the sale, raising over $2,900 last year, are used to support the library’s children collection. Contributions to the sale may be dropped at the library any time when it is open. Pick-ups of donations can be arranged too by contacting the library’s staff.

The Paris Public Library will hold its annual used book sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, July 25, Aug. 1 and Aug. 8. In addition, the sale will be open from 3 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29.

The sale will be held again at the old Paris Farmers’ Union building at the corner of Main Street (Route 26) and Skilling Avenue.

Hardcover books will sell for $1 each, trade paperbacks for 50 cents each, and mass market paperbacks for 25 cents. The last day of the sale, Aug. 8, will be a bag sale, where a standard plastic grocery bag may be filled with any sale items for $1.

Duplicate Bridge Club lists results

OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met June 12 where a 10 table Mitchell movement was enjoyed.

Finishing first in flight A N/S were Pete Cummings and Dick Allen, second were Mike Quinn and Mike True, third were Nancy Farmer and Mike Newsom, and fourth were Jim Krainin and Milt McKeen Jr., who also were first in flights B and C. Second in flight B were Cynthia Clifford and Claire Lyons, third in B were Norma And Rick Verrill, and fourth were Marty Round and Martha Thurlow. Second in flight C were Marlee Turner and Cathy Sanderson.

Finishing first in flight A E/W were Neenie Kivus and David Lock, second were Rosemarie Goodwin and Luke Merry, third were Jim Dickens and Denny Raymond, who also were first in flights B and C. Second in flight B were Cindy and Bob Kirchherr, who also were second in flight C, third in C were Margie Levesque and Laura Chandler, and fourth were Carol Curran and Kathy Feld.

Games are open to all bridge players and played at 9:15 a.m. Fridays at the Oxford Recreation Building, King Street. A partner is always guaranteed.

Waterford Grange holding yard sale throughout summer

WATERFORD — Waterford Grange No. 479 will sponsor a craft and yard sale that will run throughout summer from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays on Route 35 beside the North Waterford Post Office.

Items for sale will include handcrafted knit, crocheted and sewn items, decorations for all seasons, books and toys. Items will change weekly.

Proceeds will enable the Grange to support charitable organizations and make needed repairs to its historic building, which will be celebrating its 100th anniversary since its purchase.

Donations to the Grange are accepted.

Bridgton to hold diabetic shoe clinic

BRIDGTON — The Bridgton Community Center will host a diabetic shoe clinic on Tuesday, June 23.

Diabetics on Medicare are entitled to one pair of therapeutic shoes plus inserts each calendar year, paid for by Medicare.

Attendees can pick a shoe style and get measured for shoes. All widths available.

Those planning on attending should bring their Medicare card, secondary insurance card and primary doctor’s name, address and telephone number.
