GLENBURN — Police say a Charleston man stabbed another man in the face during a fight inside a pit bull’s dog cage.
Police charged 25-year-old Jesse Merritt with elevated aggravated assault on Thursday night and took him to Penobscot County Jail. They say Merritt and 38-year-old Alan Hartley of Glenburn got into a fight after they crawled into the dog cage. The incident took place at Hartley’s home. The dog is Hartley’s and was not involved in the incident.
Police say it is unclear why the men were fighting in the dog cage. Hartley is being treated at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for a stab wound to the face. Police say the two men knew each other prior to the fight.
It was unclear if Merritt has an attorney.
