PARIS — The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office responded to 249 calls from June 8 to 16, including the following.

* At 8:57 a.m. June 16, Deputy Danielle Welch responded to a complaint about a farmer on Jim Warren Road in Buckfield whose pigs keep escaping from their pens. Welch said she issued the owner a trespass warning for the animals and notified the animal control officer.

* At 2:38 p.m. June 15, Deputy Andrew Whitney took a report from a Virgin Street address in Canton complaining of mail tampering and theft. Whitney said the case remains an open investigation with no leads.

* At 9:40 p.m. June 14, Sgt. Timothy Holland responded to a Railroad Bed Road address in Buckfield to investigate a suspicious person/circumstance complaint following the theft of a strongbox and trunk.

* At 9:26 a.m. June 15, a Burnt Meadow Road caller reported that someone stole her dog June 14 from the beach in Brownfield. Deputy Welch responded and learned that an unknown witness said that two possibly teenage boys asked if the dog belonged to her. When she replied it didn’t, the witness said the boys walked the dog to their green car and drove off. Deputies haven’t had further contact with the boys or vehicle.

* At 7:08 p.m. June 12, Deputy Welch responded to a 911 hangup call at a Summit Street residence in Woodstock. She said she spoke with a grandmother and children on scene who were playing with the phone. “Children were warned not to ‘crank call’ 911,” she said.
