RUMFORD — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the Life of Ernest “Al” Legere was celebrated at noon Monday, June 22, at Parish of the Holy Savior. The Rev. Greg Dube was the celebrant; he was assisted by Deacon Matthew Gregory. Bernard Poirier was the altar server. Mark Belanger was the organist.

Music selections were “Be Not Afraid,” “How Lovely is Your Dwelling Place,” “Let There Be Peace On Earth” and “Ave Maria,” sung by Elaine Michaud.

The Old Testament was proclaimed by his grandchildren, Steven and Brittany. The New Testament was proclaimed by his grandson, Jeremy. Prayer of the Faithful was offered by Richard Luck. Offertory gifts were presented by his granddaughters, Brittany, Sadie and Alison. Personal reflections written by Jerry Legere were shared by his grandson, Ben Legere.

Interment was in St. John Cemetery, with special music, “To Where You Are” by Josh Groban, sung by Elaine Michaud. Military honors were rendered at the church by the Maine Funeral Honor Guard. Active pallbearers were Steven, Nicholas, Ben and Nate; Honorary pallbearers were Rich, Jeremy, Brittany, Sadie, Matthew, Elaina, Andrew and Alison.

A reception followed in the parish hall.

Services were under the care and guidance of S.G. Thibault Funeral Home, Cremation & Monument Services, 250 Penobscot St., Rumford.
