1922 – 2015
AUBURN — Gilberte A. Letourneau, 93, of Auburn, passed away on Thursday, June 18, at Clover Manor.
She was born in Courcelles, Quebec, Canada, on Feb. 17, 1922, a daughter of the late Raoul Edmond and Virginia (Messier) Arsenault. She married Louis Letourneau in 1941 in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec. They were happily married for 48 years, raising a family of four children until he passed away in 1989. Gilberte was a member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Prince of Peace Parish. She worked as a French teacher at St. Peter’s School and then as a certified nursing assistant in the maternity ward at Central Maine Medical Center.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was a member of The Red Hat Society. Her family was her true love and joy in life, and they will all miss her special peanut butter fudge.
Gilberte is survived by four children, Lise Lemm and husband, Joe, of Poland, Jocelyne Morrissette and husband, Marcel, of Harrison, Michel Letourneau of Winthrop, and David Letourneau and wife, Gail, of Readfield, 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and her sister, Carmen (Roy) Dufresne of Ontario, Canada.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Guy Roy.
