LEWISTON — The YWCA of Central Maine has announced the second season of “Girls on the Run” starting this fall. The running club for girls in grades three to five is provided through a national organization that offers an athletic curriculum to “teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games.” Each practice includes discussions of self-esteem, body image and confidence that are incorporated into the workout. The YWCA team will be free for participating girls.

YWCA is looking for three energetic and enthusiastic coaches with experience working with youth to join the team. Girls on the Run coaches empower, challenge and play with a team of 15 girls. Practice will be held two days a week and the schedule will be decided by coaches’ availability.

Those interested may call the YWCA of Central Maine at 207-795-4050 or email nbornstein@ywcamaine.org
