AUBURN — City officials have announced the completion of the comprehensive reconstruction of the Pettengill softball field as an outdoor athletic and recreation facility. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at the field at 5:30 p.m. Monday, June 29.
The reconstructed facility features a fully-renovated softball field pattern, along with improved drainage, irrigation system, right field retaining wall with fence, wall padding, new backstop, foul poles and upgraded sport fencing.
The public investment will significantly raise the quality of the facility, which will present the community with the opportunity to enjoy this space for years to come, according to a written statement issued by City Hall.
Additionally, Auburn’s Recreation Department offers programming options that will also benefit from the reconstruction.
The public is invited to attend the ribbon-cutting at the field, 48 Pettengill Park Road.
