1983 – 2015

GRAY — Joseph Ryan MacDonald, 32, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, June 20.

He was born on Jan. 8, 1983, at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway to Daniel and Sharon MacDonald. He shared a birthday with Elvis Presley, which he thought was special. He graduated from Gray-New Gloucester High School in 2001 and attended Vermont Technical College. For the past 10 years, he was employed at UPS.

Joey loved riding his motorcycle, spending time with his friends, making music, going to the family camp on Aziscohos Lake and doing a lot of fishing. He regularly attended the Junior Scottish Highland Games and won the overall Junior Games three years in a row. Joey was very proud of his Scottish heritage.

He is survived his parents, Daniel and Sharon MacDonald of Gray; brother, Doug McAtee and his wife, Michelle, of New Gloucester; sister, Michelle Baker of Rumford; and brother, Zack MacDonald of Portland. He is also survived by nieces, Deanna Baker of Portland, and Morgan and Bailey McAtee of New Gloucester; and nephew, Connor McAtee of New Gloucester.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Richard and Marion MacDonald of Gray; and maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Elizabeth Brewer of South Paris.

A graveside service was held Wednesday, June 24, in Gray Cemetery.
