FARMINGTON — Police said a Wilton man faces a felony charge of aggravated assault because he choked a woman and threatened to kill her and her son Thursday.

Brian Dalot, 28, was arrested at his home Thursday by Wilton officer Gary Allen and taken to Franklin County Detention Center, Police Chief Heidi Wilcox said.

His bail was set at $2,500 cash or a Maine pretrial contract during an initial televised court appearance Friday. Bail conditions include no contact with the victim.

Dalot was also charged with misdemeanor domestic violence assault and domestic violence terrorizing Thursday, hours after the incident, Wilcox said.

The victim was driven to the Wilton Police Department to report Dalot tried to choke her earlier in the day, Wilcox said.

The terrorizing charge was based on his “threatening to commit a crime of violence dangerous to human life, namely murder,” according to court records.

The aggravated assault, a Class B felony charge, is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000.
