LIVERMORE FALLS — Thirteen members of GFWC/Livermore Falls Women’s Club visited Therapy Through Horse in New Gloucester May 29.

The program director, Michael Frolick, who is an Equine Specialist in mental health and learning, gave the group an overview of their facility and its programs.

Therapy Through Horse partners people with horses and through these partnerships, help individuals, families and groups overcome life’s challenges. They currently are serving both adults and children with great success, increasing their mental health assistance to veterans suffering from PTSD and other mental health challenges brought on by their service to our country.

“Seniors, veterans and Alzheimer’s patients benefit from incorporating human interaction with horses as guides,” said Frolick.

Members of the club were introduced to the hoses and allowed to interact with them. Under the expert guidance of the staff, each individual was taught how to brush and touch the horses and the correct way to use a lead rope.

The GFWC/LFWC club members enjoyed lunch at Cole Farms Restaurant after their very interesting experience at Therapy Through Horse.
