FARMINGTON — Police said a Farmington woman was charged with breaking into the Farmington Historical Society’s Octagon House and taking a book and picture frame Saturday night.
Bridget Flaherty, 23, of Farmington, was charged with felony burglary and misdemeanor theft, Police Chief Jack Peck said Thursday. She is expected to appear in court on Aug. 25, he said.
Officer Michael Lyman issued her a summons on the charges.
Lyman also plans to charge a 21-year-old woman from Manchester in the break-in, he said.
A debit card that was dropped upstairs in the Octagon House led police to the two women, Lyman said Wednesday. The card belonged to Flaherty.
When contacted by police, the two women admitted to entering the building late Saturday night and taking items. They said they were intoxicated at the time, he said.
A society member noticed a door on the Perham Street side of the house open Tuesday. After finding the card, she called the police, he said.
The items were recovered and were not damaged.
