A free Theater Play Workshop will be held at the bandstand on the Bethel Common by Performance Artist Rijah Newell for children interested in creative movement and improvisation on the morning of the Bethel Art Fair July 4.
A performance featuring all of the children who participate will be one of many rich options for family fun over the Independence Day weekend.
Children wishing to participate in the free theater workshop can sign up from 9:30 to 10AM at the Mahoosuc Arts booth.
The workshop will be held on the common around the bandstand from 10 to 10:45AM. Masks and other props will be provided.
The Bethel Bandstand will be the stage for an 11 AM performance featuring all the participating kids
Rijah is the founder and artistic director of Trash Into Art, a street theater company that uses discarded and recycled objects to design and create spectacular costumes which are used in skits with environmental messages.

Performing and teaching dance and theater has been a way of life for this Maine native. Rijah is also the former Performances Director of the Norway Arts Festival, and recipient of the Celebration Barn Emerging Artist Scholarship. She is currently expanding her performance repertoire by attending classes at the Circus Conservatory of America in Portland.
