There are some fun activities currently going on and upcoming for children around town. There shouldn’t be any reason for summer boredom!

Mountain View Bible Church announces their Vacation Bible School will run from July 13 – 17 from 9 – 11:30 a.m. daily for ages 3 – 16. The theme this year is “SonTreasure Island”.

There will be daily Bible sessions for all age groups as well as crafts, games, and snacks. And parents are welcome along with their children if they wish.

On Saturday, July 18 from 11:30 a.m.– 1 p.m., there will be a closing VBS barbecue with hot dogs, hamburgers, salads and desserts. All family members of attendees are welcome to come and sample the church’s hospitality.

Right now at the New Vineyard Public Library, there is a treasure hunt going on for children. Many summer items are hidden around the interior of the library to find. After a few weeks, treasure hunters who have found all of the items will receive a “treasure”. Drop by soon and see what you can find!

The summer reading program will start soon at the library as well. The themes this year are “Every Hero Has a Story” for preschoolers through age 12, “Unmask” for teens, and “Escape the Ordinary” for adults. There will be special guests, stories, and activities all summer long. Keep watch for posters and mailings with times and schedules, or you may call the library for more information at 652-2250.

Also, interested adults may want to sign up to join a fun 9-hole golf scramble to benefit the New Vineyard Public Library. This will be held in memory of Rudy Stanzel on Sunday, July 12 at the beautiful Diadema Golf Club in North Anson.

Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun tee time starting at 8:30 a.m. Challenge your putting and drive skills throughout the morning, enjoy a lunch and perhaps receive a prize or two (locally donated gift certificates and items) for your efforts. The cost is $40 per golfer.

Organizer John Maki is accepting applications of individuals, twosomes, or teams of four. Call him at 652-2417 and leave a message.

Have a fun time supporting a great library. Rain date is July 19.
