TURNER — The Bear Pond Improvement Association will host the Bear Pond Community Fun Day Saturday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be held in the boat launch area at 65 Berry Road.

The Fun Day is for Big Bear and Little Bear property owners, their families and guests, and they do not need to be member of BPIA.

Pontoon boat rides will be available to attendees, and those who ride the boat must provide their own life jackets.

Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

BPIA will hold a “no cost to enter” raffle for property owners on the pond. Property owners just need to submit a completed form with updated email address, telephone number(s), pond address and mailing address to enter the drawing for a $50 gift card to Northland True Value.

While the Association encourages all property owners to join BPIA, membership is not required to enter the raffle. Forms will be available for completion at Fun Day with the drawing to be held at BPIA’s July meeting scheduled for 9 a.m. Sunday, July 26, at the Boofy Quimby Memorial Center in North Turner. The winner does not need to be present at the meeting.

The information collected from the raffle will help BPIA update its mailing and email lists, thus increasing efficiency and accuracy in getting information (i.e. newsletters) to everyone along the shore, while at the same time, decreasing mailing expenses through the use of email and correcting outdated information.

Two other special fun events are planned to coincide with the Bear Pond Community Fun Day, a fishing derby and poker run.

A two-day fishing derby for youth ages 15 and younger will be held all day Friday, July 24 until 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25, on Big and Little Bear Pond. Catches should be brought to the camp of Kent Mitchell, 41 Jones Road, Little Bear Pond (207-778-1445) for measurement and a photo. Trophies will be awarded at Fun Day. Catch and release is encouraged, if possible.

A newly designed poker run is scheduled for Friday evening, July 24, with the final card available for purchase at Fun Day. Contact Pete Angell at 207-225-3737 for information on the poker run.

Games and activities are planned throughout the day. All activities, other than the poker run, are being sponsored by BPIA at no cost to attendees. Those attending should plan to bring their own chairs. Cottage owners are encouraged to arrive by boat, if possible. Please note there will be no alcohol, swimming or dogs at the Bear Pond Community Fun Day.
