BETHEL — The Mahoosuc Land Trust will host naturalist Russ Cohen at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, as part of its “This is your backyard” series.

Cohen will speak on “These are your edible wild plants and mushrooms.”

The event will be held at the Albany Town House, at the intersection of Vernon Street and Hunts Corner Road.

Cohen, professional environmentalist and wild food enthusiast, has taught and lectured extensively on food that can be found in the wild. He has contributed articles to several New England magazines and has provided foraged food recipes for PBS’s “Victory Garden.” He has received regional awards in recognition of his river work and foraging programs. He is the author of “Wild Plants I Have Known . . . and Eaten.”

Cohen will also accompany the Friday, July 17, leg of the Source to the Sea canoe trek, where his presentation on edible wild plants will be the river event of the day. Canoes will depart from the Shelburne Village Put-in at 8:30 a.m.
