RUMFORD — Dan Richard, owner of Dan’s Automotive Repair and Sales on Crescent Avenue in the Virginia section of Rumford, has partnered with Coastal Rentals LLC to bring rentals of single and tandem kayaks and stand-up-paddle boards to the area.

According to Richard, they will offer a variety of single-person and two-person (tandem) kayaks for rental by the day, two-day and by the weekend. The kayaks are sit-in style with large open cockpits for easy entry and exit. This style is classified as recreational, flat-water for use on lakes, ponds and rivers. They are not for use in rapids or fast-moving waterways.

Also offered will be rentals of stand-up-paddle boards. Similar to a surfboard, they are wider and are paddled on calm water, standing up using an extra-long, lightweight, adjustable paddle. 

The rental business will open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. by mid-July at Richard’s garage, 625 Crescent Ave. Weekend rentals can be picked up between 3 and 5 p.m. Fridays and dropped off Mondays by 10 a.m. All kayaks and SUP rentals include a personal flotation device, paddle and emergency safety whistle and require the renter to sign a rental waiver.
