AUBURN — Carol Frances Pride passed away Friday, July 3, in Auburn with her family by her side.
Born on Oct. 26, 1953, to Frank and Donna Pride in Windham, Carol spent her childhood in Maine, surrounded by the horses and dogs she loved.
A graduate of the University of Maine, Pennsylvania State University and the University of Wisconsin with degrees in chemical engineering and business, Carol was a champion for higher education. As one of the only female engineers in her class, Carol dedicated much of her life to mentoring disadvantaged women in college settings and encouraging personal and professional growth.
As a celebrated information technology executive, Carol is well-remembered as a force of change for women’s rights and advancement within the technology industry. Her impressive career led her across the United States and Europe, and most recently to Las Vegas, Nev.
Carol was active in many charities, including women’s shelters, Big Brothers Big Sisters, food pantries and women-in-technology groups.
Carol is survived by her parents, Frank and Donna; husband, Malcolm Palmer; sons, James and Andrew; daughters, Kathryn and Susan; and granddaughter, Alena Foster.
