It’s a chance to unwind, refocus and have a little unbridled fun on the shores of a scenic Maine lake, led by longtime “Good Morning America” co-host Joan Lunden.

Camp Reveille kicks off its ninth season in Naples in August.

The camp, held on the grounds of Camp Takajo, a boys’ summer camp owned by Lunden’s husband, hit capacity last month when 200 women had signed up for the four-day, $845 session.

“Joan is in the mix with everybody, every step of the way,” said Elaine Capillo, Lunden’s executive assistant. “She’s leading fitness classes. She’s doing Zumba with everyone, she is there at the fire.”

Also on the itinerary: tennis, pottery, watching chick flicks in pjs, volleyball, fitness classes and doing as much, or as little, as they want, Capillo said.

“It’s not about health and wellness. That’s a big part of it — but it’s also about being able to play like a kid again, being able to let loose,” she said. “A lot of them (have) said, ‘I never got the opportunity to go to camp as a kid and I’ve always wanted to.'”

Many women are returning campers, and from all over the country.

“The point of coming is to refocus on yourself, re-energize, recharge,” Capillo said. “It’s about not just feeling that for that one weekend, but remembering the time there, what you were able to realize about your life, how to take better care of yourself . . . so that you can be good to everybody you’re responsible for.

“These women are mothers and grandmothers, they’re taking care of their families and they have successful careers, so they have a lot to juggle, and sometimes they forget that one of the things that should be on their list is to take care of themselves,” she said. “Joan likes to remind these women that everybody needs ‘me’ time and not just once a year at Camp Reveille.”
