AUGUSTA — Riley Chickering had himself a game.
Chickering was perfect through six innings as Bessey Motors defeated Augusta 1-0 in American Legion Baseball action. Kolbe Cummings broke up the perfect bid with a lead-off blooper into right field in the bottom of the seventh.
Chickering went seven innings, striking out eight and allowing no walks. At the plate he led all Bessey (14-0) hitters with three hits.
Raymond Mosca took the loss for Augusta (10-5), going the distance as he only allowed one run, which came in the fifth inning.
Blake Slicer had a base hit for Bessey in the fifth. He moved to third on a Jake Spinhirn fly out, and scored on a Nick Attaliades-Ryan fielder’s choice.
